O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

Let me start by saying I was EXTREMELY excited about Christmas
decorating this year! I feel like this will be my first Christmas-y Christmas in
quite a long time, and also, of course, because this is our first Christmas
together!! Well first in our marriage :)
So it is really special to me. The first time to decorate OUR home,
our first christmas card (which we did tonight and it is SUPER cute!),
and the first chance to start our own little family holiday traditions.

. . .

Well, I started off the decorations trying to make a live wreath out of
some magnolia leaves from Micah's parents neighbors tree, but it didn't start well.
I couldn't find a live wreath (round) base, the kind you soak in water,
AANNYYWHERREE!!!
Which was incredibly frustrating. I thought I had the bright idea of buying 4
rectangle shaped bases and joining them with wire. Nope. They're so soft the wire just fell out instantly.
So it became a GIANT centerpiece for our coffee table:
and also pine cones from Amber's backyard. :)

Next I decided to make a tree skirt to save money (they are like $40!! crazy!).
And it has now become our first tradition!!
Each year I'll add a ribbon (up towards the tree) to stand for something
significant that took place that year.
This years is a white ribbon with green stitching for our new marriage :)
This was actually Micah's idea, to add each year...I am so proud he's mine!!
Hopefully sometime in the next few years I'll get to add a blue or pink one! :)

We got our first christmas tree as "The Dorsey's!"
And here is what happens when you ask a
christmas tree farm (hillbilly) to take a photo with a
digital camera (pretty sure he had never seen one before):
HA! Oh well. the best part was after he took that
and saw it on the screen he said, "Yep, got it."
HAHA! Micah and I were trying so hard not to laugh.
I still want to put lights outside. Would be my first time ever.
Getting it set up! It's perfect!

We had to take a break from the tree to go to my
salon Christmas party.
We had a great time!
All the stylists and Mr. Santiago - he keeps our shop SPOTLESS!

Then off to Walmart to get a few more ornaments!
Look how excited Micah is for decorating the tree:
haha :)
Lights on and ready to hang the ornaments!
Excited to hang our vintage ornaments!
Our one personal ornament :)
I love this little owl. We got it from this local art shop in
Eureka Springs, AR on our vacation!
And I got to put the star on top of the tree!
We were missing some lights at the top at this point.
Some close ups of different favorites of mine:

. . .

Our home is starting to look so cozy and Christmas-y, I am LOVING
it!! I even came home to flowers yesterday ( I love my husband :) :) )
and they were red so they go perfectly!

I will post our new wreath and stockings soon!

Hope you are all enjoying the holiday season as much as I am!

Love,
The Dorsey's
